I  TOUCH  MYSELF

This body of work was the culmination of the research undertaken as part of a Bachelor of Contemporary Art at University of Tasmania, 2019

Within two installation spaces I investigate the potential to evoke and articulate the instability and vulnerability of flesh through materiality; to embody the inescapable and irreducibly material nature of bodies. By deconstructing and dissecting the body I evoke the dissociative alterity which comes about as a by-product of the body becoming increasingly conscious of itself. The visual poetry of materials invites the evoked body to elude its conventional boundaries so as to manifest a kind of abstract dissociative 'body horror' which mirrors and manipulates the rhythms of nature.
